Sleepy Sun in concert December 14 2009

I saw Sleepy Sun in concert december 14 in Brussels at “Le Botanique”. It was a magical evening with my princess.

It was in the very cool “rotonde”, it’s a circular arena and it’s magical, you can be very close to the band.

Here is the encore of the concert, they did a cover of “The Chain”. The whole concert was perfect! The song were a little bit longer than the original tracks.

The light show was minimal but it was giving a nice mood to the event. Here is the band at the end of the concert:

Music video – Quinte de tout

I was contacted 2 weeks ago by Bjornoya – The music is composed by Jean-Louis DE BACKER. He is a Mac fan since ever and he was my chemistry teacher back when I was in my secondary school! Since then we are meeting regularly every few years, we even had a common development on the Mac 10 years ago.

His music is electronic and repetitive, made of floating pattern; it’s definitively something that I like to listen.

So as soon as he contacted me I realized that I had in my video vault a few loops that are matching the music so I proposed him to visualize one of his tracks.

Here is the result, hope you like it:

Video is in HD, if your machine is fast enough be sure to select high quality.

The source material has been shot in Belgium, Poland, Nevada and California.

Enjoy!

ArKaos MediaMaster used at Australian Idol

A popular usage of ArKaos MediaMaster is on TV stages, there it’s very convenient to use it’s large library of content, up to 60.000, and drive both videos on the walls and the lighting from the same DMX console.

In this case there are 2 MacPro servers but you could also run MediaMaster on a windows server.

Here are some extracts of the show:

This is a remix I made from videos found on sharing web sites. You need QuickTime installed on your machine to view this video.

Biosphere (2009) – Wireless – Live At The Arnolfini, Bristol

I am a long fan of Biosphere since Microgravity in 92 and even when he was playing with Bel Canto

Biosphere (2009) - Wireless - Live At The Arnolfini, Bristol

I like the cool flow created in this album, I already saw him in concert in Brussels and I find back the memories. For some this music maybe too minimal ambient but for me it is perfect. This album is also using subtile field recordings that add a layer to the music, particularly in the track I visualized.

Because it’s the first live album he released it’s highly recommended if you are a fan and never saw it live. It’s hard to believe he waited so long because he is doing a lot of concerts.

I found it while I was staying in Ireland in July 2009 and I did listen to it during my week while shooting video loops of landscapes and sea sides. Naturally when I came back home I made an editing of what I did shoot on one of the tracks of the cd.

Here is my visual remix, I played a lot with the speed of the loops and adding motion blur to enhance some movements, it contrast nicely with the music:

Sleepy Sun (2009) – Embrace

Sleepy Sun is a band from Santa Cruz that migrated to San Francisco.

There is something magic in the sound of their music. Sometimes it reminds me of dream pop or shoegazing bands such as Slowdive but they definitively have a Californian touch, a blissful sun-baked psychedelia that find it’s root in Santa Cruz.

When I finished the last WWDC I spent my last day in the south of San Francisco, we went to Santa Cruz and then to Año Nuevo State Natural Reserve to enjoy the wildlife of California.

Here is a video I made with a track from Sleepy Sun as background:
